Character Profile

For this assignment you will choose one of the characters from the stories below, and write an in-depth analysis on that character, with the aim of discerning which psychological disorder/illness/phenomenon you think they represent, and then conduct research on the  issue you identify.

Every claim you make must be rooted in text evidence, either from the text or from outside researched sources.

You final Character Profile will consist of two parts:

A character/scene study – submitted to me.

  • This will be a close reading of the text, in which you analyze the character and draw conclusions based on what you see, providing evidence for your argument, to arrive at a “diagnosis” of what this character is meant to represent.
  • This should include specific, contextualized references to the text, with clear introductions, citations, and analysis. this means thoroughly introducing and commenting upon moments and language from the text, and using it to support your claim.
  • About 3 pages in length.

and a presentation of your research – submitted to Kutay Agardici, in your topic section.

  • This will include 3 pieces of research, with at least to culled from the CUNY databases, with thoughts on how the text connects to a real world psychological idea, and how you view this representation.
  • At least one academic journal must be included in the three sources. All sources should be cited with MLA citation
  • about 3 pages in length.

You will submit a topic proposal for the whole class to view, peer review your research in progress, and submit your finished work to each instructor.
